After arriving from
Macau, a former Portuguese Colony in China, in 1980, Daniel Wong
graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S.C.E. in 1983, a
M.S.C.E. in 1985 and a Ph.D. in 1988, with an emphasis on geotechnical
engineering. He joined McBride-Ratcliff & Associates, Inc., (MRA)
shortly thereafter, where he began working with Zeki Tolunay, P.E. In
1993, Dr. Wong left MRA with Mr. Tolunay to start up Tolunay-Wong
Engineers, Inc. (TWE). He currently serves as CEO of TWE in Houston,
Texas. Dr. Wong is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, Oklahoma,
Florida and Louisiana. He was appointed in 2006 by Governor Rick Perry
to the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, where he currently serves. |

Dr. Wong was elected
and was an At-Large City Councilman in the City of Sugar Land from 2002
to 2008 and also a Board member of the Houston-Galveston Area Council
(H-GAC) and the H-GAC Transportation Policy Council. He is a trustee of
Fort Bend Economic Development Council and a board member of Fort Bend
Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Boards of the Fort Bend YMCA, the
Literacy Council of Fort Bend County, and the Fort Bend American Heart
Association.
Dr. Wong serves as a Board member of the University of Houston Civil
Engineering Department Advisory Board. He also served on the Board of
Houston Council of Engineering Companies (formerly ACME) and as
President of Asian American Engineers/Architects and is currently its
Treasurer.
Dr. Wong was recognized as the Young Engineer of the Year by the Sam
Houston Chapter of Texas Society of Professional Engineers in 1993, and
was named as the Distinguished Young Engineering Alumnus by the
University of Houston Alumni Association in 1998. Dr. Wong was the
recipient of the 1989 John B. Hawley Award by the Texas Section of the
American Society of Civil Engineers.
